How to Use Your Exam Date to Build a Study Plan

Once you know your exam date, count backward to figure out your available review time. Here is a simple framework based on how far away your exam is.

More than 4 months away: You have enough time for a full structured review. Follow a 12 to 16 week plan that covers all subjects, includes mock exams, and leaves a rest week before the exam. This is the most comfortable position to be in.

2 to 4 months away: Doable but you need to start immediately. Do a diagnostic test in Week 1 to identify weak areas, skip topics you already know well, and prioritize high-weight subjects. Mock exams every 10 days.

Less than 2 months away: Focused and fast. Pick the 3 to 4 subjects you are weakest in and give them the most time. Daily practice questions. Full mock board every week. Protect your sleep.

Less than 3 weeks away: Stop starting new topics. Review your notes, do short 50-item practice tests daily, and focus on managing your energy and mindset. The material is in your head. Your job now is to stay calm.

Important: Application Deadlines vs Exam Dates

A lot of first-time applicants confuse the application deadline with the exam date. These are two very different dates.

The application period is when you submit your documents and pay your fee through LERIS. This typically closes 4 to 6 weeks before the actual exam.

The exam date is when you physically sit for the board exam.

If you miss the application deadline, you cannot take that cycle's exam regardless of how ready you are. You will have to wait for the next cycle, usually 6 months away.

Set a reminder at least 2 months before your target exam so you have time to gather documents and submit your application comfortably before the deadline.

For a complete walkthrough of the application process, read our LERIS application guide.

What Happens If PRC Changes the Schedule?

It happens. Typhoons, public health events, or administrative reasons can cause PRC to reschedule an exam with relatively short notice. Here is how to stay informed:

Follow the official PRC Facebook page at facebook.com/PRCPhilippines for real-time announcements.

Check your email regularly after submitting your application. PRC sends notifications to the email address on your LERIS account.

Check prc.gov.ph directly, especially in the 2 weeks leading up to your exam.

If PRC reschedules your exam, your application, payment, and Notice of Admission remain valid for the rescheduled date. You do not need to reapply or pay again.
